Two recent local articles that caught my eye:
After a series of flight tests, drones have gotten the okay to become the world’s highest trash collectors, with the goal of saving lives—predominantly of working Sherpas, who make many, more trips across the perilous Khumbu Icefall than their clients do, ferrying supplies and ropes up and trash down. It’s a pretty thorough article.
And a simple machine is speeding up the process of making traditional sal leaf plates, or tapari, in a community in far-western Nepal, a win for both the rural woman who produce them and the environment as they replace single-use plastics.
Closer to home, plants are going wild, everything’s green. The neighbours have a bag with several chili plants outside the downstairs front door that’s gone absolutely wild. There are several varieties in the bag and they all look beautiful. As a balcony gardener who has been bested by her chili plants more often than not, I feel like I am in the presence of greatness.
That or some high-end bovine fertilizer.
